The Faculty of Mathematics and Information Science was established in 1999. The Faculty follows the mission and traditions of previously existing units
  • Institute of Mathematics (founded 1963)
  • School of Mthematics and Techology (created 1966)
  • School of Fundamental Problems of Technology (established 1971)
  • Faculty of Technical Physics and Applied Mathematics (founded 1975) which, in 1999 was divided into Faculty of Physics and Faculty of Mathematics and Information Science
Research activities of Faculty members concentrate around such ares as
  • Universal algebra, differential geometry, discrete mathematics, numerical methods of algebra, geometry, stochastic processes, probability theory, differential equations, statistics, singularity theory, control theory, algebraic topology, dynamical systems, financial and insurance mathematics
  • Data bases, mathematical foundations of computer science, methods of computational intelligence, CAD/CAM systems desing, numerical analysis, parallel computing, neuron networks, decision support systems, artificial intelligence
The Faculty offers studies in Mathematics (in Polish) and Computer Science (in Polish and in English) on all levels, including PhD studies both in mathematics and computer science.
